Recall that Crofader owns a screen used Michael Myers mask from HalloweeN 4. This new replica is based off of Crofader’s screen used mask and it improves upon a previously released rendition. The new H4 mask promises to be the best HalloweeN 4 replica to date. The mask will come in two sizes: 24 inch and 25 inch (pictured here). The finished prototype will be revealed soon and pre-orders are currently being accepted.

Videos will also accompany each step, I believe seeing is easier than reading  in mask making.

Hopefully you have the basics. Clay(oil and water base), Head Armature, Sculpting Tools (cheap set will do), Clay Cutter, Plaster (go to Lowes, it will work), Clear Coat (sealant), Screw drivers (Flat Heads), Burlap or plaster bandages, Measuring Spoons (Good for Keying the mold). Assuming you have that stuff, lets begin with adding the clay to the head to build up for sculpting. There are many ways to do this and I’m sure the longer you go at it you will find a way that best suits you.  But this is solely for beginners, so, one way to build up your thickness is by rolling the clay into little balls (a swedish meatball size) and just do a one after another around the entire head until you have it completely covered, not think enough? just repeat the process. After that is done, use a damp sponge or a damp thumb to smooth everything out. This technique will ensure a uniform thickness all the way around. This way is good for Myers Masks and any type of mask that is going to look like a “normal” face. Another way to get the clay on the head even is the “copy and fill face mold”. This process I have never used, but it’s seems to be very easy and a great way for beginners to learn. It involves 2 extra steps and a foam armature, but again it’s very straight forward.

Here are a few answers to some question that may pop up in the sculpting phase. When you’re sculpting a mask you want the sculpt to be about 10 to 15 % bigger than your actual finished measurement, why because the clay will shrink.  A bit of knowledge on anatomy is helpful. I find one of the hardest things to do is noses, so just google that and pull up as much as you can on the subject.  Don’t rush, take your time. If you get mad, walk away and come back to it later.  Oil base is great for sculpting, but honestly I like working with water base. If you think you can go with oil right from the gate more power to you, but if not then just go with the water.

I’m not sure what else I could say on this step because it depends on what your making and I hope your first mask is not a demon with huge horns, but a Michael Myers mask (movies 1-10) so you are just sticking with  human features.

So, lets pretend you have your armature all clayed up and your features of The Shape all sculpted in. I bet you wanna cast it now and start pouring your latex…Not so fast. you have a few steps that you wanna take before you do that.

Seal your work! Hairspray, Vaseline, pam, clear coat, crystal clear. It doesn’t matter just as long you have a barrier between the clay and plaster. This step really helps with getting the clay out of the mold. Put on at least 3 coats and allow to dry between each one. Now we can move on to building our mold “wall”.

The mold wall is what make your mold a 2 piece mold. When building the mold wall you are going to build up the middle of the mask and go behind the ear. This is a good way to hid your seam. Now there are two ways you can hide that seam, one is to put a slight channel in your sculpt so you can fill in the final product smooth or you can just do it the old way with scissors and a dremel. either way it turns out pretty well.

Well if you watched the two videos above your off to a great start and probably don’t need me to explain anything else, but just to tie this up with a nice neat bow I will just point out the final basics.

After you have that wall built you need to “Key” it. Some like to do a long channel all the way around and others like to make nice neat circles that interlock. I like the circle keys. Take your spoon and just make the slightest circle above the head into the wall. Follow that with three on the left and two on the right of the wall. The next most important thing to do is “Pry Points”. These are spots where those flat heads will go to pop your to halves apart, but you will not add those until you have cast the first half of your mask.

Again I can not explain as good as the two videos above so please watch them over and over again.  It will explain the mixing of the plaster, what it’s consistence should be and how many layers to do. *One thing the video doesn’t show is adding strength to the mold. Burlap of plaster bandages will help a lot! after a few coats add a layer of either or.

Pretending you watch the videos and you have learned the ins and outs of casting now comes the most delicate part. Separating the mold. If you pry to hard and break it your screwed! Cause that sculpt is going to be ruined underneath. So please be very careful and remember use the pry points! Once that is done you have to clean the mold and for that I just go for the hosing it out method. You can use the garden hose or a pressure washer. I have never heard of a person damaging a mold with water, but it is possible.

Believe it or not, this is the first attempt by MadMyers1975 (JD) at designing, molding, pouring and painting a HalloweeN 1978 style Michael Myers mask. It’s very difficult to capture the likeness of Michael Myers because his mask is expressionless and it relies on subtle details. So, this effort by JD is admirable and it is work to be proud of. The vast majority of us HalloweeN fans can only dream of rendering Myers so effectively in three dimensions.

If the JD / O.S.K. Myers is the beginning, then only greater things will follow. You definitely want to keep an eye on MadMyers1975‘s future projects. He’s  expecting to commence work on a Kirk Proto as well (!). Also, visit JD at The Blood Shed.

As Rob’s latest movie The Lords of Salem hits theaters, it’s time to take a look at some of the promotional artwork that features Sheri Moon Zombie as character “Heidi Hawthorne.”

Upon seeing the above photo, longtime reader Mrs. Foreman informed anyone who would listen to her that Sheri Moon Zombie kind of, sort of resembled Scout Taylor-Compton’s Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (pictured below during a dream sequence).

There’s somewhat of a similarity there, so Mrs. Foreman took things further and looked at Sheri Moon Zombie’s shadowy skeleton eyes in the first pic and then thought of the scene right at the end of Zombie’s Halloween II where Laurie is sitting in an insane asylum. As seen below, Scout’s eye socket areas also look hollow and darkened but she doesn’t have any marking on her forehead and her teeth aren’t exposed or painted on (she also looks like Kurt Cobain),

Whether or not Sheri Moon Zombie actually appears wearing skeleton paint in The Lords of Salem remains to be seen, but here is another photo of Sheri as ” Heidi Hawthorne” without the makeup,

In this case, Sheri resembles a cross between Scout Taylor-Compton (Laurie Strode) and actress Brea Grant, who played one of Laurie’s friends (not the hot brunette one) in Halloween II,

Actors from the hit television show The Walking Dead were at this convention held between March 22-24. This seemed to be the reason for the large crowds that were seen at the aforementioned Monster Mania. This edition of Horror Hound brought in director/writer John Carpenter and actor Bill Moseley. So, fans of the original and re-envisioned HalloweeN were sure to get their fix. Tawny Moyer (HalloweeN II), Tamara Glynn (HalloweeN 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers) and Sid Haig (HalloweeN) were also on hand.

Aside from that, most of the celebrities (especially Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker and Robert Patrick) seemed to be in good spirits. Even the usually grumpy Tom Savini was in a decent mood according to some fans.

There weren’t a great many attendees dressed up as Michael Myers this time (there were more Jasons, Freddys, Star Wars characters and freaks on stilts). Oddly enough, the famous Rob Zombie Michael Myers life-size animatronic made up for this. The animatronic was standing at a vendor’s booth. The robotic Michael Myers head, eyes and arm actually moved quite well and caught the attention of many convention-goers.

The first instance took place during Halloween 5 The Revenge of Michael Myers. After almost getting himself shot to death by the cops because of an uncalled-for Halloween prank, Spitz, wearing an exact Michael Myers costume, went into the barn with Tina and his girlfriend Samantha (played by Tamara Glynn) hoping to score some threesome action. Tina got distracted by all the cats inside and lost her way while Samantha had all her sexual fluids scared out of her when Spitz approached her wearing his Michael Myers mask and coveralls AGAIN.

Spitz removed his Michael Myers mask and then laid on top of Samantha and Samantha bit her lips as Spitz gave her his usual routine with his dry mouth and cold clammy hands. Spitz was well on his way to reaching orgasm (even if Samantha wasn’t) when the real Michael Myers came out of nowhere and jammed a pitchfork right through his back.

Samantha got away from Spitz’s corpse and pulled the pitchfork out of him with the intention of using it as a weapon against the real Michael Myers, but Myers had already armed himself with a scythe and Tamara was no match for him. Michael swung the sharp tool at her and all you saw was blood gushing out.

Well, it wasn’t until Rob Zombie remade Halloween that we would get to see Michael Myers attack a heterosexual couple while they were performing a sex act. A guy laid on top of Annie Brackett (played by Danielle Harris) and he started to pull at her expensive blouse as they kissed on the couch, and what do you know, Michael Myers strolled into the living room.

Myers stared at the couple for a bit then yanked the guy off of Danielle Harris and threw him away like he weighed 40 pounds; Annie got up and attempted to run away, but she ran into the kitchen, and like Samantha in Halloween 5, she tried to put up a fight (using a kitchen knife) against Myers. Michael Myers knocked her down and then dragged her away kicking and screaming, next thing you know, Sheriff Brackett finds Annie all bloody and the boyfriend guy is hanging from the ceiling with a pumpkin over his head.

For a slasher accustomed to taking out numerous sluts and douchebags, Michael Myers has only twice assaulted a couple as they had sex over the course of 9 relevant Halloween films. Other times, Myers chooses to watch the copulating couple and then murder them separately when they are away from each other after they’ve finished having sex.
