Not here to argue with you about it. At the end of the day, you're going to do what you're going to do. I'm just putting attention to the fact that Sam brought that piece to life with his skill, and not with that appliance.

As for your question, that is something only Sam could answer. Though I would wager that it's because the 2008 version is the better one.

Thanks for the clarification. Question: How sure are you that the top one is the 1981 and the bottom is from 2008? Because I found an old thread and Billy Kirkus presented a photo of what he called a 1981 and it looks nothing like the 1981 you show above but everything like the 2008.

I also found a photo that looks like the one you posted above as a 1981 and its labeled as a HSS 2008

And here is Trevor's exact piece identified as an original 1981.

Just want to make sure our facts are straight first.

madscience-- respectfully, i think your identifications may be backwards on those two pieces (see previous post). This is relevant because evidently what Trevor has is actually a 1981. According to Kirkus, there are only two left in existence (maybe he can shed light on this). That makes the piece a good candidate for preservation of at least the Fullerton sections, since, as you pointed out, the other version looks really flawed.

Trevors copy looks exactly like the copies Billy posted and labeled as the 1981 busts.
