Regarding the next generation in very critical over prequels and sequels etc and personally didn't enjoy it , but to be brutally honest I didn't like TCM 2 either, i feel like they tried to tame Bubba a bit and he lost a bit of his edge . I much proffered the brutal butcher of the original film.

The 1974 original is a timeless classic, no doubt. I do admire the overall franchise for trying to be inventive with the sequels. The sequels were never formulaic, but this can all backfire. It's frustrating for a sequel to deviate too much from what was established in the original. It works in some franchises, though (e.g. Child's Play with Bride of Chucky).
The Next Generation would've been much better had it been less campy (with better production values, it could've been a great parody). I do like the remakes. They have stylistic virtues and the stories brought back lots of the brutality and darkness that had been absent in some TCM sequels. Still, i doubt anything will ever top the original TCM.
