Time Setting Of RZ's Films?

Postby JDash10 » Mon Oct 24, 2011 7:35 am

Okay, when I watched Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween, I was under the impression that it was set in 1978, like the original.

However, in Halloween II which is set 'two years later', Loomis has a small cell phone, Weird Al looks like he does nowadays and he makes a reference to Austin Powers, which didn't come out until 1997.

So when do the Rob Zombie films take place?

I'm probably making myself look super stupid here, but as I'm watching H2 for the first time I'm really confused.

Thanks guys :D

Actually in one of the deleted scenes on the H2 DVD Mya or Harley (cant remember which) says that she was born in 1990 and she is about 19 so its set in current times. Unless you don't wanna count that cause its a deleted scene.

there are cell phones in both films, what's so hard to understand?? lol

but seriously, it has to be current. they do look a bit dated, though. I'd assume it's late 90's/early 00's.

It doesn't matter what age you are, if you have the talent and the motivation you can do anything.

CELL PHONES ARE IN THE MOVIE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS MODERN DAY. ESPECIALLY WITH HOW EVERYONE IS DRESSED.

Zombie says on the commentary for the remake that Young Michael's scenes are supposed to LOOK like the 70s, but not actually be set in any specific timeframe. Even with that 70s look in place, I could still see those scenes taking place in the late 80s, early 90s.
