My absolute grails are my original Halloween III set. Those are the masks that I was after for years. There is so much sentimental value in those...I could never sell them. Damn, those were difficult to find...especially the Pumpkinhead.

In 1995, after I first met Don Post, Jr. at the Transworld Halloween Show in Chicago, he went back to his shop and tried looking for those molds to make me a set. He got home on a Sunday and on Monday he had 3 people, including his son, trying to track down those molds. After 4 days...nothing besides the Skull mold was found. After that, Don started to give me phone numbers to costume shops in the US that Don Post Studios sold the masks to; there must have been at least 300 shops on that list and I called every singe one of them. ZERO, NADA! Except an incredibly high phone bill!

Then later in 1996 a guy out of Indiana called Ray Shope put an ad in Fango about selling old Halloween masks. I contacted him and he sent me a catalog of what he was selling. (I think I still have that catalog!) He had a TON of stuff...80's Distortions, Don Post, Savage Eye, BSS...everything. He had a Green Witch listed and I immediately called. I bought 2 Green Witch's, a Glow Skull and some other masks. When the box arrived I was looking at it and noticed that all he did was put his name over the place where he was purchasing the masks from, so I made contact with the old store that he found and bought them out of Green Witch's and a few others. Talk about mask happiness! (PLUS, Ray's mark ups and being a jerk was something that I couldn't take!)
In 2001 or 2002 a Pumpkinhead mask showed up on eBay! I contacted the seller and we struck a deal, sadly...the original Pumpkinhead mask was re-painted with orange house paint so I had to have that re-painted...so I sent that off to Kelly Mann and about a month later it caught up with the originals.
Absolutely the hardest mask set to find...without a doubt.
