Brad Dourif confirms Child's play Sequal and Remake

Over a year ago now, with MGM back on the rise, it sounded like a remake of Child's Play might finally getting off the ground with Brad Dourif returning to voice everyone's favorite murderous little buddy Chucky. However, since then updates on the project have been stagnant. Well, Moviehole recently attended North Carolina's Mad Monster Party convention and Dourif was in attendance for a reunion preceding the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the horror favorite, and offered an update saying a remake is still in the works, but that a separate sequel in the franchise was also being developed at the same time. The Child's Play films are some of my favorite movies. The later Chucky sequels are tolerable being that they are still apart of the series, but nothing can beat the original 3.

Yeah, I'm still confused as to what the're doing exactley, because I've never heard of a sequal and a reboot being planned simultaneously, and the word "spinoff" is throwing me. I wonder if the sequal will venture off and focus more so on the seeds, but I honestly can't wait, just please for the love of GOD, get Kevin Yagher attatched to this project, I am not interested in seeing anybodys intepretation of chucky fx wise anymore. I still shed a tear for what could have been had Kevin created glen instead of Todd Gardner. I ahve a whole theory about that, but I digress.

And heres to all the new chucky merchandice this should lead too chucky fans rejoice.

Sequel & Remake, AND both starring Brad Dourif as Chucky? Not sure what to make of that, it sounds a bit confusing to be honest. I kind of like the idea because we get more and it's the same actor within the role, but I'm not sure if going in two directions at the same time is good or bad. I'm in for both though. Chucky is not a guy you can just replace with any actor.

I really don't understand how it's going to work either, how much breathing room are they going to give this sequal after they release it, before they completely reboot the series . But i'm just glad the're doing it.

But then again they did release jason x almost right before freddy vs jason, so it is possible.

Agreed. Two year difference. I love the Lakeshore Strangler...this should be interesting to see how they do this.

Well let's not forget the comment ms.Tilly said on the special features of the seed of chucky DVD.She said that there are already ideas for an chucky/child's play 6,but she didnt want to give anything away .But the plans may have changed a bit since then

Yeah but that's before the initial impact of seed hit, I think the commentary was made while the movie was still in theaters, but I honestly hope whatever they were planning during that time, does not make it to screen because Don Mancini seemed hell bent on completely turning the series according to the hinting him and Jennifer Tilly were doing back in 05. Bride worked, the formula was good, it was just enough comedy to be tollerable, they didn't abandon the genre, it had an over all goth feel to it, metal soundtrack, dark saturated hue, stylized it was good for what they tried. Seed failed.

I don't want Don Mancini to make another bad movie and jeopardize the reboot making it to theaters, Tone it down don't alienate genre fans. On another note, Tiffany and Jennifer Tilly are so engrained in the chucky mythos now, I am honestly looking forward to the gang returning, only because we'll be getting a complete reboot after that though, it's much more tollerable.
