This looks promising. I have started thinking the same way a few months back actually. They didn't have a latex Kirk mask to go by when they created it. So to recreate the DP 1975 Kirk you would have to use what they had, references of pictures and stills of Kirk from the 60's series and pictures of William Shatner.
